I was in my studio working on some messy stuff today, and had the door to the outside open. I was wearing glasses and a dust mask. I saw neighbour cat poke her head around to see what was going on. I stood still for a moment and observed her to see what she would do. Apparently she decided whatever she was seeing was too scary and bolted. Poor thing I wonder if she knew it was me under there.
I finally used my compact circular saw today. It took a little getting used to. Cutting was a little slower than I thought it would be but I got the hang of it eventually. It’s a lot heftier of a machine than I thought it would be but it serves my purposes. I love tools so much man.
I finally finished this… pendant I guess? It looks like a gemstone with the shiny facets. I love it! I’ll work on a pair of earrings later after I get all the dust off me and have some lunch. Also I think I need to invest in a bench sander.

I haven’t used my compact circular saw yet. I’m being a pussy and I’m a little afraid of it.
Times like these I feel disappointed in myself. I’m perfectly capable of handling the fucking tool. I read the whole manual. I know what to do. I’m just being an ass about it. Maybe tomorrow I will test it out just to cross that hurdle.

I keep finding all these old ID’s belonging to my dad. I found his diplomatic ID among my things a while back and I had no idea how it got there. This was his work ID from Venezuela that showed up in my drawer the other day. Was it always there? Is it a message? Do I just need to clean out my drawers? They’re realistic and reliable
They work with reality rather than fighting it. They see problems and try to fix them, instead of overreacting with a fixation on how things should be.
They can feel and think at the same time. The ability to think even when upset makes an emotionally mature person someone you can reason with. They don’t lose their ability to see another perspective just because they aren’t getting what they want.
Their consistency makes them reliable. Because they have an integrated sense of self, they usually won’t surprise you with unexpected inconsistencies.

I was watching this show and they asked Kevin Bacon about the whole Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon thing and how he responded to it when he heard about it, and he said he didn’t take it as a positive thing and felt like it was a joke and his expense. And I felt so disappointed that he took it that way man. I mean he thinks it’s cool now but meh.

It’s really common for West Indians to stay living with their parents as adults. In Trinidad the cost of housing is really high. Most people with a college degree and an entry level job cannot afford to rent a place here. Parents would rather you save your money for a mortgage and stay at home. Honestly we find it really weird how in other places people want to kick their kids out as soon as they turn 18.

It’s older. No the point I was making was that with the no claim bonus the price went down from last year but it went down much more than it should have given what they said the no claim bonus was.

I went to renew the insurance on my car today and I think they undercharged me.
I had lost my no claim bonus a couple years ago when I had an accident so today would have been the first time I got to benefit from it.
When she gave me the total it sounded too low. So I asked her how much the no claim bonus was and she told me 15%. I even went so far as to ask what I paid last year and she told me the amount. What I paid today was a 25% deduction.
I dunno if it was a typo or a mistake or what but I shut my mouth and just paid what she asked and got out of there.

a few days ago, i saw a rainbow in these glasses. it had just finished raining and then the sun came out, and my friend and i scrambled out the door.
i saw green. red. orange. real, actual violet.
i cried. i cried so hard. i saw every color – something i never thought would happen in my life. imagine living your life without knowing something so beautiful exists, and all of a sudden it appears before your eyes. theres no way to prepare for it. the rainbow only lasted for five minutes before it disappeared, but every with second i stood there i became more amazed at how beautiful this world actually is, i just had no idea.

I went into my studio today with the full intention of working. But the petals I wanted to use were wrinkled (I put them between some heavy books), I couldn’t find my saw blades to cut some wood I wanted to cast in resin, and if I wasn’t casting the wood in resin then it didn’t make sense mixing resin for any of the other pieces I wanted to finish since they were so small. So in the end I just ended up leaving. But I worked Saturday so I’m allowed to kind of take today off right?
Oh the pretties! I have a full size one and I must say it is boss. Can’t imagine the cool stuff you’ll do with this!
I want to do more resin pieces with wood and the saw was the big holdup. Once I get this I’ll be good to go!
